Under close supervision of the Office Manager, performs a variety of routine and specialized cashier and clerical work requiring advanced knowledge of Transfer Site paperwork and procedures.
Will weigh or estimate weight of all solid waste entering facility. Will collect disposal fees from customers not having a credit account. Will screen solid waste loads as they enter the facility and direct the vehicles to the proper unloading area. Will assist the Office manager with purchase orders, billings and record keeping as required.
Receives telephone and personal callers, handling any questions or matters of a routine nature and directing others to the appropriate staff members in a courteous and professional manner. Will conduct periodic surveys and distribute information and pamphlets concerning Weber County Solid Waste programs and operations. Performs all daily functions as assigned. Performs related work as required.
Education: High School graduation or equivalent,
Experience: One year working with the public and one year working in an accounting situation; work experience must be appropriate to the position to be filled, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge: Working knowledge of department rules and regulations; ability to make mathematical computations; working knowledge of specialized duties required by the position.
Skills: Skill in using assigned equipment.
Abilities: Make mathematical computations; ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and in making decisions; ability to accurately maintain billing records and customer accounts; ability to follow written and verbal instructions; ability to maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and a sometimes hostile general public with excellent communication skills.
YOUR SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be bondable. Must be able to count money and make change accurately. Must have a valid Utah Driver’s license and a good driving record. Must be willing to work ten hour shifts which include weekends and holidays.
