Weber Human Services Foundation launches community fundraiser, providing food for families in need
Weber Human Services Foundation has launched an emergency campaign to provide food to clients and employees at Weber Human Services (WHS) who have been critically impacted by the U.S. government shutdown.
“We want to care for our most vulnerable clients, particularly those who are elderly and have mental illnesses, and our employees who could lose access to SNAP benefits, while softening the influx of need from our local food banks” Kevin Eastman, executive director of Weber Human Services, said.
The Foundation will be distributing food boxes on November 6, 2025, at WHS to provide meals for eligible clients, employees and their families. The food boxes, which will provide meals for one week, can also be delivered to the family’s homes, if needed.
The Foundation is asking the community for monetary donations and appreciates every dollar donated that will go toward a family in need. Community members can donate at https://weberhsfoundation.org/donate/.
“Our dedicated employees, community partners and the Foundation Board are all doing their part to make sure clients at Weber Human Services are able to provide food for their families during this time of uncertainty,” Summer Williams, executive director of Weber Human Services Foundation, said. “The response for support has been overwhelming, and we are grateful for a caring community who is coming together for this fundraiser. It is heartwarming and inspiring to see how much impact we can make together for those in need.”
The Foundation Board has allocated $6,500 in emergency funding for the fundraiser. WHS employees have donated an upwards of $3,300, and that number continues to grow. Community partners have also donated food for the food boxes.
The Foundation is planning for an additional distribution date if the government shutdown continues.
