Weber County Animal Services (WCAS), in partnership with Best Friends Animal Society and the Weber-Morgan Health Department, is hosting a community give back event on March 28 from 9:00 a.m.–1:30 p.m. at 1373 N 750 W, Ogden, that includes a free cat and dog vaccine and microchip clinic as well as a community vaccine clinic.
“We’re very excited to kick off this event with our partners and share updates happening at Weber County Animal Services,” Weber County Commissioner Sharon Bolos said. “The Animal Services director, Siri Main, and her staff have done a phenomenal job improving operations and streamlining protocols for the wellbeing of the animals in our care.”
From 9 a.m. – 9:30 a.m., the event features a short program to announce new partnerships, as well as community, volunteer, foster and animal-enrichment programs. Partner representatives will also be speaking and in attendance.
“We are so incredibly proud to announce our full, comprehensive and fun volunteer program!” Siri Main, director of Weber County Animal Services, said. “This program has six different ways to get involved with Weber County Animal Services: dog walking, cleaning, transportation, events, book reading and Tiny Techs.”
From 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., the event features a free cat and dog vaccine and microchip clinic. Vaccinations include FVRCP (feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus and panleukopenia), Bordetella, DAPP (distemper, adenovirus, parainfluenza and parvovirus) and rabies. There will also be free animal care supplies, including leashes, collars, toys and food.
“Vaccinating our pets plays an integral role in preventing rabies in our community,” Amy Carter, Weber-Morgan Health Department communicable disease nurse, said. “Protecting our pets saves a lot of heartache for our families, neighbors and other furry friends if they are involved in a biting incident or come across a wild animal.”
The event also features a vaccine clinic administered by the Weber-Morgan Health Department. Attendees can receive vaccinations for: Tdap (whooping cough, tetanus and diphtheria), MMR (measles, mumps and rubella), COVID and influenza. Vaccinations may be free with a health insurance card. Uninsured individuals can speak with a nurse on site about what options are available. The cost of a flu vaccine for uninsured individuals is $20.
WCAS will be open to the public on March 28 from 9 a.m.–5 p.m. with the adoptions room and holding room available for viewing.
