Once approved as a foster, WCAS will provide food and supplies to you as needed.
ABOUT OUR ORIENTATION:
Please plan on the orientation being around an hour long! Orentations will include:
- A tour of the facility
- Getting to know us!
- A presentation on what you can expect as a foster
- An application proccess
Orientations are held once a week to accommodate your schedule. The schedule is as follows (you only need to attend one orientation):
- 1st week of the month - Monday at 9:00 a.m.
- 2nd week of the month - Wednesday at 5:00 p.m.
- 3rd week of the month - Friday at 4:00 p.m.
- 4th week of the month - Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN BEING NEONATE OR MEDICAL FOSTERS:
You will need to complete the orientation course above AND attend our medical class offered once a month by a veterinary professional from the MedVet team. Once you have attended this course, you will then be allowed to foster animals from neonate and medical cases.
FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN BEING A BEHAVIOR RISK FOSTER:
You will need to attend the foster orientation and medical course, as well as complete 10 hours in shelter bonding with the animal of your choice. Once you are approved to take the animal home, a member of the animal control team will check in weekly to ensure you and the animal are thriving together.
You only have to attend the orientation once! We encourage you to attend the medical courses twice a year to stay up to date or refresh your neonate knowledge. If we have an emergency foster request, we will be doing the orientation the day of and as you come in.
